Bridging the Gap
The resident support fund helps bridge the gap between what Medicaid reimburses and the actual cost of care for those who have outlived their savings. In 2023, this fund helped support:
- 197 residents in skilled nursing
- 94 residents in assisted living
- 6 residents in memory care
- 64 residents in the Advanced Transitional Care Program
- 361: Total number of residents supported by Luther Manor Foundation in 2023
- $2.3 million: Total amount granted to Luther Manor to help bridge the gap between Medicaid reimbursement and the actual cost of care
Advancing the Best Quality of Life Possible
The foundation strives to support programs and projects that enrich the lives of all of our residents — from Independent Living to Skilled Nursing, and everything in between. Following is a snapshot of the projects we have supported through fundraising and grants.
- 2021: A remodel of the Faith and Education Center, a large, multifunctional space for religious services, presentations, and events.
- 2023: The creation of The Sanctuary, a secure, fully landscaped outdoor space for those living with dementia.
- 2024: Financial support for residents receiving Luther Manor hospice and their family members.
- Coming in fall 2024: The addition of senior-friendly furniture and equipment in a new salon/spa that will help residents look and feel their best.
Backing Luther Manor Clinical and Support Staff
By maintaining a strong roster of volunteers, we provide vital assistance to our staff. Many volunteers create friendships with the residents and facilitate the programming that helps residents grow cognitively, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
- 371: Volunteers in 2023
- 12,039: Total volunteer hours in 2023
To help limit staff turnover, we constantly seek ways to uplift our workforce, some of whom live in the most economically distressed neighborhoods in Milwaukee. Through fundraising we are able to provide an end-of-year bonus to employees. Additionally, by securing outside grants, we supported the opening of CARESMart, a convenience shop for employees that provides free and affordable fresh produce, pantry items, and necessities.
- $9,960: Raised for employee end-of-year-gifts in 2023
- 300: Number of Luther Manor employees who have utilized CARESMart
- 35,786: Items taken home from CARESMart
