How would a planned gift be used at Luther Manor?

A planned gift (sometimes known as a legacy gift) is a donation that is designated for an organization to use at a future date, usually at the time of death. With a planned gift, you can help Luther Manor Foundation grow the resident support fund, donate to a special project that is meaningful to you (like The Sanctuary or The Salon at Luther Manor), or support a particular service (such as hospice). You can choose the manner that you would like your gift used.

How do I set up a planned gift?

You can also choose the form of your planned gift. Many give by including a bequest in their will. However, other vehicles for giving are also available. For example, you may want to consider naming Luther Manor Foundation as a beneficiary on your life insurance policy or retirement account. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you about various options.

How would a planned gift benefit me?

While planned gifts greatly benefit Luther Manor Foundation, they can also benefit you. For example, by reducing your taxable estate, you ease the tax burden for your loved ones. Some set up a life income gift like a Charitable Gift Annuity or Charitable Remainder Trust, which provides income to meet your needs today while planning your legacy. We also believe that a planned gift provides peace of mind in helping to secure a strong future for an organization important to you and your family.

Can I give using a qualified charitable distribution?

Qualified charitable distributions (QCD) allow you to instruct your IRA administrator to direct your required minimum distribution (up to $100,000 per year) to a qualified 501(c)(3) public charity. Since the IRA distribution is sent directly to Luther Manor through your administrator, the QCD is not reported as taxable income. This is a win-win option for donors who want to support the mission of Luther Manor in a tax-advantaged way.

Donors who remember Luther Manor Foundation in their estate plans are recognized as members of the Heritage Partner Society. To learn more, please contact Luther Manor Foundation at 414.831.8950, or email us at [email protected].
